It is home assembled, with 32 Thread 16 core AMD Threadripper 1950x, I only have 32 GB memory but I have 4x4TB disks (could just as easily be 10 TB disks), 1 nvm SSD main disk and a few SSD disks to f.ex. boot into Linux. I have a full blown GPU card, 1070 Nvidia with more memory than most laptops have for their main memory.

I have this hooked up to 43″ Acer 4k monitor. I also have a Qpad gaming keyboard, and I have not had any problems with my wrists since I got this one, also have a mouse.

For all the money in the world, you just can not cram this into a usable laptop, and I absolutely love this machine.

I once bought a gaming PC with i7 3770k CPU and everything turned to max, this machine lasted many years, according to Intel this CPU delivery was in 2012, sounds about right, I bought a i7 7770k in 2017 only to sell it shortly afterwards for my Threadripper. I expect this machine to last me 6–7 years. There is just no way a laptop will ever reach that age for me.

The longest time I have owned a laptop was 3 years and it was so slow by then. I did not get rid of my 3770k machine, it is now a family machine hooked up to a 35″ monitor and everyone loves it. Kids play minecraft at full settings. You struggle doing this on a laptop without burning yourself.

Desktops are not going away.

Yes, I do own laptops, plural, think I have at least 3 right now, I have an iPad and a huge Android phone which could be used as a laptop if I wanted to.

But no one is taking away my desktop.
